I recommend you to buy your tickets for a Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas in advance, as it is one of the most popular shows in the city and one of the most chosen by its visitors.

2. Stroll the amazing Las Vegas Strip

Walk through the heart of Las Vegas. Along Las Vegas Boulevard, better known as the Strip, you'll find all the entertainment you can imagine and more. With its towering hotels and casinos, restaurants, bars, this is the place where it all happens in Sin City.

Just strolling and touring its themed hotels (which you can enter even if you're not staying in them) will leave you speechless. They are true marvels, built to dazzle all who visit them. At the New York New York hotel and casino you can enjoy a recreation of the New York skyline along with an incredible roller coaster that runs along its façade at full speed.

At the Paris hotel and casino you can enjoy an exact replica of the Eiffel Tower, and even climb to the top for the best views of Las Vegas. Inside you can see an authentic Parisian sky 24 hours a day.

At The Venetian hotel and casino, as the name suggests, you'll find a replica of the Venetian canals, complete with gondoliers and all!

Another must-do on this amazing street is to take the iconic picture next to the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada sign. A classic part of any visit to the city, as is the dancing water show at the Bellagio Hotel. You probably remember it from the movie Ocean's Eleven. This show is free and runs all day and night, so don't miss it.

Travel back to the golden age of Las Vegas on one of its most retro-charming streets. Fremont Street is like the backyard of the Strip, home to some of the hotels that gave birth to the city of Las Vegas.

Much of the street is indoors, and at night it transforms into the world's largest screen, where you can enjoy the Fremont Experience. Live music and entertainment for the whole family. Also along the street you'll find various musicians and street performers.

Here you can also enjoy the Neon Museum, with some of the city's most classic signs, as well as the incredible Slotzilla, a giant slot machine from which you can speed across the Fremont skyline over the heads of the crowds.

A word of advice, Fremont Street is also home to some great dining options for much less than you'd pay on the Strip.

4. Try your luck at the casinos

A visit to Las Vegas can't be complete without a trip to its sensational casinos. Whether you're a fan of gambling or not, you have to try your luck, it's a unique experience.

Just walking into one of the best casinos in Las Vegas will leave you speechless. The glitter, the lights, the colours and the sounds, everything is a stimulus for your senses. Plus, drinks are on the casino, so you can spend a moment (or all day!) enjoying the endless gaming rooms of these hotels.

There are many stories about casinos in Las Vegas, but the truth is that they are absolutely amazing places, and one of the few places where you can leave as a multimillionaire.

Las Vegas is an almost obligatory stop for most artists, which is why at any time of the year you can attend a mega concert of some of the biggest musical stars. The likes of Elton John, Lady Gaga, Adele, U2 or Beyonce could be performing tonight at your hotel. This is the kind of thing that only happens in Las Vegas.

From pop artists to heavy metal and hard rock stars, hip hop headliners, trap, reggaeton and traditional Elvis tributes, there is always a concert or show worth attending in Las Vegas.

Another of the city's attractions is its mega sporting events. Some boxing matches that have taken place here in Las Vegas have gone down in history, such as the Mike Tyson-Evander Holyfield fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Other major venues for concerts and sporting events include Caesars Palace and the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

But it's not all casinos and neon lights in Sin City, there are also amazing places just minutes away from all the hustle and bustle. One of the most recommended excursions from Las Vegas is to the Hoover Dam, one of the most amazing engineering feats in Nevada and Arizona, which provides power to the entire city of Las Vegas and also helps control and prevent flooding from the Colorado River.

Located just 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam rises in the middle of the desert. It is named after the 31st President of the United States, Herbert Hoover, who was one of the prime movers in its construction. When completed in 1936, the dam was the largest in the world. Today it has been declared a National Historic Landmark, and is the largest in the country, measuring 380 metres long at its concrete arch and 221 metres high.

The Hoover Dam was built in just 5 years during the Great Depression and gave rise to the artificial Lake Mead. On a trip to the Hoover Dam from Las Vegas you can see the inside of the dam, with its large turbines spinning non-stop, and enjoy the majestic views from the top. It's not for nothing that this is one of the most visited dams in the world.
