Step by Step
Your day begins with a visit to Windsor Castle, the largest inhabited castle in the world and the official residence of His Majesty the King. If you choose the option with admission, you can marvel at the opulent State Apartments and the magnificent St George's Chapel, a Gothic landmark where the history of the British monarchy can be felt. Those who prefer not to include admission will have free time to indulge in the quaint charm of the city's shops and cafes.
The adventure continues to Salisbury Plain to unravel the mystery of Stonehenge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll be able to step back 5,000 years as you explore this ring of prehistoric stones; the entrance option gives you access to the world-class exhibition centre, where 250 ancient artefacts are on display and you'll learn about the monument's relationship to the solstices.
Finally, the tour heads to the 'City of Dreaming Spirits': Oxford. Here, your guide will take you on a walking tour of its historic cobbled streets, where architecture from every period, from Saxon to neo-Gothic, comes to life. It's the perfect opportunity to admire the exteriors of institutions such as the Bodleian Library or the Sheldonian Theatre before returning to London.
Highlights of the route:
- Windsor Castle: Royal residence with almost 1,000 years of history.
- St George's Chapel: A medieval Gothic treasure (closed on Sundays).
- Stonehenge: The world's most famous and enigmatic megalithic circle.
- Oxford University: Britain's oldest educational institution.
- Bodleian Library: One of the oldest research libraries in Europe.
- Sheldonian Theatre: Architectural jewel designed by Christopher Wren.
