Step by Step

This excursion to the Caminito del Rey is one of the best options to discover one of the great natural icons of Andalusia without worrying about transport arrangements. The experience departs from Seville and allows you to enjoy a full day in a spectacular setting, ideal for those looking for an active and scenic getaway outside the city.

The route of the Caminito del Rey runs through the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes gorge and has a route of about 3 kilometres in its most famous part, with very narrow sections and suspended walkways that have made this place one of the most famous trails in Spain. The route runs between Ardales, Antequera and El Chorro, and offers an experience full of breathtaking views over rock walls, canyons and the inland landscape of Malaga.

One of the most interesting aspects of the visit is its history. This path was originally built by the Sociedad Hidroeléctrica del Chorro to facilitate the passage of workers and materials between different areas of the hydroelectric dam. Over time it deteriorated and came to be considered one of the most dangerous paths in Europe, until it was restored and reopened to the public in a safe route of about 7 kilometres.

At the end of the Caminito, the transport picks up the group to continue the day. After the route, travellers are transferred to the area for lunch at a local restaurant or free time for lunch on their own or with a picnic. The excursion may also include a stop to visit Osuna, a town declared a Historic-Artistic Site.

All in all, this is a highly recommended excursion for those who want to experience an active day in the heart of nature and discover one of the most spectacular trails in Andalusia with a comfortable and well thought-out organisation.
