Feel the power of a 4×4 quad and take to the dunes of Erg Chebbi on a 1-hour circuit from the village of Merzouga. After a brief safety briefing, your guide leads you along sandy tracks, across a small oasis of palm trees and up golden ridges where the desert meets the sky.

The starting point is the quad bike base just outside Merzouga, with free pick-up from hotels or riads in the area. The experience is offered in English, Spanish or French and welcomes drivers from 16 years old - accompanying passengers from 6 years old - to enjoy with family or friends.

After adjusting your helmet and goggles, your guide explains how to control the throttle and keep your balance on steep descents. You soon leave the tarmac for a Paris-Dakar rally track where the reddish dust announces your arrival in the deep desert. The engine roars, the suspension absorbs the bumps, and suddenly the great sand wall of Erg Chebbi appears before you.

As you conquer the first dune, the horizon becomes infinite and all you can hear is the whirring of the quad and the wind carving the ridges. A photo stop at a hidden oasis allows you to stretch your legs, take a sip of water and discover how the Berber nomads used these natural wells for their journeys.

The route continues at a dynamic pace, with switchbacks on gentle slopes, pulse-racing descents and a final stretch where the guide invites you to try your hand at top speed in complete safety. If you have chosen the sunset time, the sand takes on orange tones and the shadows lengthen to form an unreal landscape worthy of a postcard.

Back at the base, a refreshment and the dust on your clothes certify that you have experienced an intense hour of adrenaline in the heart of the Sahara.
