Terezín Memorial Day Trip from Prague with Small Fortress and Former Ghetto

Terezín was originally built as a fortified town in the late 18th century, but its history changed radically during the Second World War. Following the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia, the site became a ghetto and transit camp for thousands of Jews from various European countries.

One of the main highlights of the visit is the Small Fortress, which was used as a Gestapo prison during the occupation. You will walk through its original courtyards, cells and rooms whilst learning about the conditions in which those imprisoned there lived.

The tour continues through the former Terezín Ghetto, where thousands of people were forced to live in overcrowded and extremely harsh conditions. Through the preserved buildings, documents and testimonies, you will gain a better understanding of how the ghetto functioned and what role it played within the Nazi deportation system.
